IN LOVING MEMORY OF

BRO. VIRGIL SCOTT

It was the early 1950's when Brother Virgil L. Scott began preaching and singing his
way into our hearts here at Antioch .   Bro. Virgil was well loved in this area of the brotherhood, and there is scarcely a family in South Arkansas and North Louisiana he did not minister to insome manner. Bro. Virgil’s singing was ministry unto itself. He was one of the mostknowledgeable singing instructors in the brotherhood for decades! Bro. Virgil directed theAntioch Singers at church functions and funerals literally hundreds of times. He established the Calvary’s Way group in the 1970's and was their director.

As a young man he began singing in
the Gage Quartet, and later with the Four Spirits, and was my personal singing companion in the Antioch Quartet. Without a doubt, his beautiful tenor voice is forever seared in our hearts and minds.Bro. Virgil was a tireless worker in this area and abroad, and knew his labor would not be in vain.  He knew the rewards would be worth whatever the cost. He meant more to us than I could ever convey with pen. As time goes on since his passing, the love of song and the word of the Lord he instilled in all of us lives on. We still have no words to express our sadness in his passing.

The world is truly a lesser place without him! Still I know he will be with God and His Angels, and even heaven will be improved by his presence. I know everyone who knew him is sure of this as well, yet this knowledge and comfort cannot completely diminish his loss and our grief. We will simply miss our friend!
